Dall-E Run, by Seb Nassim and Fat Tony

For Seb, mille Grazzie

A good friend who I have never sat with or broke bread with but I have had more than a few drinks and conversation with, sent me a message saying that he regretfully was shutting down the Fat Tony’s discord server.

There isn’t any Taleb Twitter, Gabish!

~ NNT.

A perfect solution is for suckas

~ Fat Tony, of Brooklyn-terra

There is a Fat Tony’s Twitta, the man, the myth the legend has brought a lot of us together via discord. Yet Fat Tony’s on discord is past it prime and suffering a decline. My personal use ebbs and flows and has had a bit more ebb side . Twitter isn’t the perfect solution, but we are going to have to use it for most things but we still should do our best to see each other and use other tools. Nor is Discord a perfect solution otherwise we would be there.

Ya can’t always get what ya want but if ya try sometimes ya get what ya need…

~The Rolling Stones

Over the last year, I have started to reach out to those who I want to chat on the phone with or email and made more personal channels of communication. I know there will be a few who will not join twitter, it would be FatTonian AF, to find a way to keep in touch with them and keep them in the fold.

Doctor John: Why did that restaurant close it had great food and a great bar?

Fat Tony: None of ya ate there.

Chicago has a handful of restaurant open daily, and about as many close, but ya can still get a good meal any day of the week. You just are going to have to go to a place that is open. A few times I and my buddy John (not joking) ended up finding our favorite BYOB Mexican restaurant had closed. We were shocked until we realized it had been years since we ate there. Fat Tony’s Discord has the nostalgia value but few of us are using it. So I have seen my Twitter Fat Tony’s use is robust and sort of antifragile. Like the restaurant we never go to, if we leave those who don’t come to twitter its our fault.

Et Tu Seb

~ Fat Tony.

There is a common joke that Jack Dorsey should just turn twitter off because it is a mess and full of darkness. Fat Tony’s was a much smaller experiment on discord. Discord has a lot of advantages, no limit on text length, the lounge, the channels, but if few of use it, then it may be best that it goes out where is still loved and respected than to decay and fade away. Caesar wanted to die quickly and not fade away. “Jordan left a with rings on top, Babe Ruth didn’t, and only Ronnie O’Sullivan keeps playing on…” ~Me. It is Seb’s choice it is his intellectual property and he has been the custodian & protector of Fat Tony’s and I know that he had put a lot into this decision.

We should give Seb the respect for doing what is best, before it is the worst, we will all feel sad and nostalgic, but if Seb feels it’s time to shutdown then it is likely the time, even if it stabs a little at our hearts.

Nassim gave me a heart attack and the Fete of a God, and then brought me back to debate some Greek guy.

~ Fat Tony

Like James Bond there is something indestructible about Fat Tony. He has already moved to twitter because he foresaw the restaurant problem. The Mighty Kaos and Nassim Taleb both closed down there version of Fat Tony, but he has an existence and life of his own. Maybe Taleb’s most antifragile idea is a guy from Brooklyn that speaks his mind and looks out for the little guy with a bit of good advice, and hunts big suckas, who ignore his wisdom, & he ain’t scared of no Socrates or that Plado guy.

We have not completed our investigation of Sebastian's miracles and we don’t usually canonize the living but I have no problem calling him a Saint.

~ Papa Francis, Pontiff Maximus

Seb has kept the discord server going pretty much by his sole effort and we should be thankful, that we had it when we needed it. His generosity of time and effort is only matched by his open curiosity, and his ability to talk people off the ledge.

If those ain’t miracles then ya don’t know miracles.

~ The Aphorism of Brooklyn ~ Attributed to Fat Tony
